An affordable activity that will have you spending plenty of time away from the “crowds” (as if there are crowds in Niue), the Niue bike trails are yours today!

Niue is home to five official bike trails, which take you deep into the Niuean bush where very few tourists go. Bikes can be hired on the island, as outlined in Where to Rent Bikes in Niue, and you can loop through the forest trails of Niue and back along the coastal roads, should you want to stop at a couple of places for a refreshing swim – see the 10 Most Beautiful Swimming Holes in Niue. Just be mindful of the tide, as explained in Tide Times in Niue: Essential for Your Trip!

See some of our recommended bike trails in The 5 Best Bike Trails in Niue.

Day 4 – Do a Private Fishing Charter and/or Some Bar-Hopping

Travel time: 10-20 minutes drive or see cycling times in The Cycling Times & Distances in Niue.

Keep ahold of your bike for today if you want to do a cheaper alternative to a fishing charter (or as well as a fishing charter because you will certainly have time).

Fishing Charter

Start your day watching the sunrise as you troll, jig and pop for Niue’s highly-sought game fish. In Niue, fishing is part of everyday life, and you too can get in on the fishing action with a fishing charter. Join passionate guides that will share top fishing techniques for tropical waters to tackle the likes of mahimahi to wahoo. Some fishing charters will give you some of the catch to cook up at your accommodation, while others will take your catch to local restaurants for you to try later. Learn more in The Guide to Fishing in Niue.

What’s an adults-only holiday without a cocktail or two? Or several?! Spend the day (or the rest of the day, if you decided to go fishing) hiring a bike so you can enjoy the various watering holes around the island. For instance, head to All Relativf (Swanson Complex), a cocktail bar serving up only the freshest and most photo-worthy cocktails. Then, either ride into town to enjoy drinks at the Pacific Way Bar (Alofi South) to mingle with the locals or join one of their weekly events or head back over the hill to the Pool Bar (Scenic Matavai Resort) for sundowners.

Learn more about each bar on the island, as well as other suggestions, in the 11 Best Bars in Niue.

Dining and Drink Recommendations

Start your day off with aromatic coffee and an indulgent locally-sourced brunch at Fana Cafe (Swanson Complex). For dinner, give the Dolphin Restaurant (Scenic Matavai Resort) a try, with its a la carte menu accompanied by the soothing tunes of an island band.
