Day 3 – Go on a Scuba Diving Excursion and Relax with an Island Massage

You can hardly be surrounded by some of the world’s clearest waters and not go scuba diving! Niue has two PADI-accredited dive operators who will gear you up and take you out to some awe-inspiring dive sites.

Scuba Diving in Niue

As Niue is made up of porous limestone with no lakes or rivers, rainwater filters through the island carving out amazing underwater caves, chasms and cathedrals. This also allows the visibility to reach as far as 80m, with 50m being the usual. That makes for all the more vivid encounters with sea snakes, barracuda, turtles, painted crayfish, and countless arrays of tropical fish.

Swimming with humpback whales is also available with Niue’s dive operators between July and September. See The Guide to Scuba Diving in Niue to help plan your dive in paradise.

Spa Treatments in Niue

After putting your body through its paces with scuba diving, be sure to treat it to a soothing massage after your dive. Maulu Spa offers relaxing massages with coconut oil (or something else if you prefer) either at their clifftop massage bungalow or in the privacy of your accommodation. Yoga sessions are also available to rejuvenate the mind, body and soul. Alternatively, Tui Na Health Clinic offers relaxing evening massages.

Day 4 – Wake up to an Exciting Fishing Charter

While the rest of Niue sleeps, join in on the early morning fishing action! Reel in the big ones, such as marlin, mahimahi, wahoo, sailfish, giant trevally and much more, as the sun rises across the Pacific Ocean.

Niue has a wide range of passionate and experienced fishing guides running reliable charters. Whether you’re a newbie or an experienced angler, they’ll show you the ropes with the latest in fishing gear and the ideal bait for landing some of the Pacific’s most highly-sought game fish. Start planning your morning getaway with The Guide to Fishing in Niue.

As for the rest of the day, it can be spent indulging in the perks of your accommodation, whether it’s sipping cocktails by the pool at the Scenic Matavai Resort or drinking your complimentary bottle of wine from your balcony bathtub at Lau’s Getaway… Ahh…

Day 5 – Departure Day

This is when you realise that five days in Niue wasn’t nearly enough time to spend on this island paradise. Nevertheless, you’ll still have time to enjoy a coffee or a fresh-fruit smoothie at one of Alofi’s cafes before checking in for your flight.

We recommend checking in your baggage in the morning, then coming back to the airport later when departure check-in opens. All is explained in Leaving Niue: The Niue Airport Departure Process, so you know what to expect.

If you have a rental car, return it at the airport by parking it up by the “Rental Cars Only” signs and leaving the keys in the car.

Then, relax in the departure lounge with one last drink in Niue at the Runway Bar, before taking your flight to Auckland.
