Niue is a deeply religious country where almost all of the population are Christians. The main denomination on the island is Ekalesia Niue, while other denominations represented include Apostolic, Catholic, Jehovah’s Witness, Latter-Day Saints, Seventh-Day Adventist and more. Because most Niuean’s are members of the Ekalesia Niue church thus having the most number of churches on the island, you will find that most churches on this list are of that denomination.
So experience a Niuean church service on a Sunday to hear the island’s stunning acapella singing and enjoy a spiritual experience. 1. Hakupu Church
One of many welcoming village churches in Niue is Hakupu. The modern church in Niue’s second-largest settlement is kitted out with attractive stained glass windows, as well as a large cross at the back of the church decorated in colourful lights. Like all of the churches found in every single village on the island, Hakupu Church is of the Ekalesia Niue denomination.

2. Avatele Church
The centre of the Avatele community, Avatele Church stands tall and proud on the village green. The church is conveniently located by a few of Niue’s accommodations, making it a popular choice for visitors. Even throughout the week, you’ll find locals sat outside who are often keen for a chat. Again, this is an Ekalesia Niue church.

3. Alofi Ekalesia Niue Church
Located at the iconic Tomb Point in Alofi, the Alofi’s Ekalesia Church is one of the most visited churches by overseas visitors. The church is beside a popular whale watching lookout, as well as being situated in a historic graveyard where two Niuean kings are laid to rest. 4. Lakepa Church
If you’re looking to get more off the beaten track to experience a Niuean church service just with the locals, then try the Lakepa Church on the east coast of the island. The church is backed by swaying coconut palms, making for a stunning location for your morning or afternoon worship. Like the other village churches, this is an Ekalesia Niue church.

5. Latter-Day Saints Church
And for an alternative denomination to experience, try The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Alofi. Located opposite the historic Opaahi Sea Track, the Latter-Day Saints church welcomes visitors to its Sunday morning service.
