Before we jump into the best places to take photos in Niue, don’t forget to bookmark the 101 Things to Do in Niue: The Ultimate List featuring more amazing experiences.

1. Avaiki Cave

The contrast of colours between the limestone cave and the vibrant blue pools makes the Avaiki Cave an utterly photo-worthy location in Niue. The cave near Makefu is only accessible at low tide, where you’ll want to bring your snorkelling gear to check out the fishy residents in the cave’s large pool.

Extra tip: There’s an amazing photo spot of the pool on the flat space between the two wooden walkways. Climb around the boulders toward the light where you’ll see the pool below. Check out more photo-worthy caves in the 10 Most Stunning Caves in Niue.

Location: Signposted on the main road between Makefu and Tuapa, west coast of Niue.

2. Matapa Chasm

The Matapa Chasm has a way of making you look (and feel) so small in between the two huge towering cliffs on either side of a sheltered pool. The pool, accessed along a seven-minute sea track from Hikutavake, is one of the only snorkelling attractions in Niue where you can swim safely at any tide. The best time for photos is at midday when the sun is directly above the chasm. Learn more about the importance of the tide in our guide to Tide Times in Niue: Essential for Your Trip!

Location: Signposted at the back of the grassy parking area in Hikutavake village, northwest coast of Niue.

3. Togo Chasm

It’s hard to believe a place like this exists; a sandy chasm with coconut palms growing from the depths. You can check it out for yourself in the Huvalau Forest Conservation Area where this 40-minute walk has many photo-worthy moments, from seeing amazing trees to being on top of a rugged pinnacle-dappled coastline. The main event, however, is climbing down a long rung ladder to the bottom of the Togo Chasm.

Location: Signposted along the main road in the Huvalu Forest, approximately 4 km (2.5 mi) north of Hakupu, east coast of Niue.

4. Limu Pools (Main Pool)

The Limu Pools is one of the most iconic sights in Niue, mainly for its azure waters and rocky sheltered cove capturing the beauty of Niue. The main pools are the best place to snorkel, especially at mid to high incoming tide. You can find it along a short sea track from the village of Namukulu. Check out more snorkelling hotspots in the 10 Best Places to Snorkel in Niue.

5. Limu Pools (Side Pool)

While many believe this small coastal arch is a destination in itself in Niue, it is, in fact, just located down a side track at the Limu Pools! Don’t miss the short track just behind the shade sail, where you’ll go down a short ladder to a sheltered cove with an arch. Be careful about surges through the archway if you are swimming there, especially on an incoming tide.

Location: Signposted along the main road, Namukulu, west coast of Niue.

10. Tautu Reef (Limu Sea Track)

A beauty on the east coast, the Tautu Sea Track (also known as the Liku Sea Track) leads through an archway onto a stunning reef with amazing photo opportunities in all directions. Find the access road in the northeast corner of Liku village green. Assess whether you want to walk down the very steep unsealed road, as you can just park your car and enjoy an extra 15-minute walk down the road instead. At the bottom of the road is a grassy clearing and access to the sea track with a grand staircase archway leading onto the reef. Get there early to take photos during a stunning sunrise!

Location: Signposted along the main road and across Liku village green, Liku, central east coast of Niue.
